Job Description:

The In-School Support Coordinator will work under supervision of the Lead Psychologist to develop and manage the support plan for children in mainstream education settings. The priority for the support is to help these children to develop skills to direct their own personal care, to foster independence, and to maximise the benefits of their participation in school. This role is also required to work closely with the educational providers and parents to ensure the effective communication and consistency in applying support strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Ethos mission, vision, and programme philosophies by way of work product and professional behaviourwith both internal and external personnel;
  • Adhere to all current laws of Vietnam, as well as Ethos’Policies and Procedures, including the safeguarding of confidential information;
  • Report immediately any concerns related to child welfareand safety;
  • Establish relationships and communicate withchildren, educational providers, family members, other professionals and staff;
  • Facilitate the acceptance of children with special needs in the community and educational settings;
  • Meet Ethos quality and compliance standards by accurately completing documentation and service reporting in a timely manner;
  • Work cooperatively with educational providers, parents and other Ethos teams to maintain smooth continuity of care and support;
  • Identify and seek resolution for potential problems arisingwith staff or other involved parties;
  • Coordinate support by communicating with educational providers, parents and team members, both verbally and written and attending case conferences and meetings as necessary;
  • Provideinformation and assistance to parents, educational providers, the general public and other staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner;
  • Completes other duties as directed by Psychologist andOffice Manager.

Scope of Work:

  • Conduct the initial assessment and observations of children to identify their challenges and strengths;
  • Develop the suitable support plan for them to participate in mainstream educational settings;
  • Manage the implementation of the support plan which may include reducing target behaviours, shaping functional commuication skills, teaching adaptive living skills, enhancing learning readiness and functional play skills, and responding to challenging behaviours;
  • Monitor progress on goals and objectives of the In-School Support Plan and Individual Support Plan (ISP) for each child;
  • Provide individualised support services directed toward the development and/or enhancement of skills necessaryfor emotional, cognitive, behavioural, language, and interpersonal growth of the child;
  • Deliver individual behaviour therapyto children with special needs in their natural setting including how to talk, play, make friends, and function independently, while helping to reduce inappropraite behaviours.
  • Work closely with parents to timely address their concerns for their child at home as well as ensure the consistency in applying the support strategies;
  • Provide coaching and modelling for parents and caregivers based on evidence-based practices and guidance fromLead Psychologist;
  • Work cooperatively with educational providers to foster the beneficial environment for the child to grow and develop their skills;
  • Write weekly report to update parents on the support for their child at school as well as obtain feedback from parents;
  • Develop quarterly report on the progress of support plan as well as build the new support strategies, goals and objectives for each child;
  • Conduct quarterly meetings with parents and the schools;
  • Conduct regular training for In-School Support Assistants, using evidence-based teaching methods and practices under supervision of Lead Psychologist;
  • Carry out regular observation and feedback to In-School Support Assistants about their development and the efficient strategies to support each child;
  • Work closely with In-School Support Assistant, homeroom teachers and the school to develop and implement the Individualised Educational Programme (IEP) for each child;
  • Assess the performance of In-School Support Assistants to make a suitable and effective job placement;
  • Participate inquality assurance activities as suggested by Lead Psychologist;
  • Build up and maintain the resource of research, theories, and practices associatedwith child development, special needs and their support.

 Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree from an accredited college/university, majoring in Psychology, or Special Education;
  • Have at least 03-year experience in education field. Experience in working with children with special needs is essential;
  • Maintain a professional attitude suiting an educational environment;
  • Be flexible, dynamic, open-minded, and confident;
  • Be willing to work with a wide range of age groups (from 3 years to 18 years);
  • Have strong English skills (reading, writing, reading comprehension);
  • Be able to work independently and be willing to accept responsibility for tasks and delegate authority;
  • Be able to proactively identify important issues and risks.
