Guide on what to do when you get Covid-19

The rising number of Covid-19 cases is putting pressure on our lives in many ways. We must be aware of the fact that our health facilities are being overloaded with thousands of new cases everyday. The government is changing the method to deal with this pandemic as they encourage only the “heavy” cases to come to health facilities and the ones with slight to medium symptoms to apply at-home treatment. This requires us to be able to know what is going on and what to do in case we get the virus. Below are some guides to take care of yourself when you get Covid-19:

Firstly, remember to eat properly.

The nutrition you take in when you get Covid-19 is important, as the body gets weaker, you would need to provide it with enough energy and nutrition to deal with the symptoms which will really drain your stamina physically and mentally. Add more vegetables and fruits to your diet for more Vitamin, minerals and antioxidants to help your body recover more quickly when you get Covid-19. It is best to include 5-6 portions of vegetables/fruit in your daily diet.

Second thing to notice is your lying positions.

It is advised to sleep on the side and lie on your stomach rather than lying on your back. Those postures would help the ones who have trouble breathing be able to breathe easily as they imply the lungs’ oxygen metabolism. You would also want to open all the windows and turn on the fans to increase the air flows in your room and make the air fresher. Keep your room dry and clean rather than moist and stuffing.

Remember to do the breathing exercises to help yourself breathe better.

Some basic ones are inhaling with your nose, loading your chest and stomach with air, holding for 2-3 seconds and then breathing out slowly with your mouth. This will benefit your lung’s ability and help you feel easier to breathe when you unfortunately get Covid-19.

Last but not least, monitor your health carefully

This is to detect any heavy symptoms in order to reach medical help in time. A Spo2 monitor is needed to follow your SpO2 concentration and your pulse, check your stats 3 times a day at least and make sure your SpO2 concentration is always 96 or higher and your pulse stays between 60-100. If your stats fall out of these ranges then your health is getting worse.

Those are some basic pieces of advice on what you should prepare in case you get covid 19 and decided to treat it at home. However, Please make sure that you notify your symptoms and contact medical personnels for professional help, do not underestimate the disease.
