Job Overview: Having first opened its doors in 2015, Anne Hill International currently provides international education for students aged 2-13 and has plans in place to expand its secondary school campus in the near future. As a school, our mission is to provide affordable, high-quality, international education and our vision is to nurture well-rounded, globally minded, lifelong learners.

Our school currently has approximately 350 students from 30 different countries and a dedicated and supportive team of 30 teachers, also from diverse backgrounds.

Our secondary school campus will open in August 2026, and a new curriculum of studies based on International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge Lower Secondary leading to International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) will be introduced. The school is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Role Responsibilities

Teacher of Business Studies (Year 10) with the professional capacity to establish and expand initiatives in a developing programme is essential. The curriculum is based on IMYC and IGCSE, and while desirable, experience in these programmes is not required.

Additionally, the ability to teach a second humanities or social studies subject would be an advantage.

All teachers are expected to contribute to the pastoral/homeroom curriculum and to after-school activities programme.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Subject Teachers are responsible for the academic progress and pastoral care of students within their class in accordance with the school’s Guiding Statements, curriculum and policies.

1. Setting high expectations which inspires, motivates and challenges students. 

  • Establish a positive, safe and stimulating classroom environment that motivates students, supports risk-taking in learning and fosters confidence.
  • Design lessons with clear goals that encourage active engagement, independence, collaboration and cross curricular connections.
  • Consistently maintain high expectations through strong relationships and inclusive practices.

2. Promotes ongoing progress and outcomes for all students.  

  • Build knowledge of students to tailor learning, using curriculum sequencing and prior learning to guide progress.
  • Promote student reflection, responsibility, and conscientious attitudes towards independent work and study.

3. Demonstrates excellent subject and curriculum knowledge.  

  • Design learning opportunities that reinforce learning, spark interest, and challenge students.
  • Continuously refine professional expertise through ongoing professional development, applying it to classroom practice with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, and the value of scholarship.

4. Plan, prepare and teach engaging lessons.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful lessons tailored to diverse student needs, with clear goals, constructive feedback, and evidence-based strategies that promote progress.
  • Build positive classroom relationships and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent, student-centred approach that supports both learning and wellbeing.

5. Adapt teaching to the strength and needs of students. 

  • Collaborate with students to set clear, purposeful goals and adapt lessons to individual needs using varied strategies such as differentiation, questioning, active learning, and technology.
  • Apply assessment, feedback, and reflection to guide teaching, support progress, and foster an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and challenged.

6. Make accurate and productive use of assessment.  

  • Systematically assess student learning using varied approaches, providing clear feedback that supports improvement and progress.
  • Consistently apply assessment data to inform teaching, guide planning, and ensure all students reach their potential.

7. Ensure quality of provision. 

  • Communicate effectively with parents, providing clear feedback and guidance.
  • Prepare and utilise resources matched to student needs and engaging support staff in planning and instruction.
  • Manage time productively and carry out academic reporting conscientiously through updates, reports and parent meetings to give an accurate picture of student progress.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A University/ College degree, preferably in the taught subject.
  • PGCE or equivalent certifications.
  • Three years’ relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
  • A proven track record of supporting students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and those with additional needs (E.g. English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
