Vietnamese people are very hospitable. If there are guests coming to the house, whether familiar or strange, close or unfortunate, the Vietnamese people will try their best to be attentive and hospitable, giving the guests the best facilities, the best food. This hospitality is a tradition of this age of the nation, regardless of class. And today this tradition is also a great advantage when applied in diplomatic etiquette.

Another sign that shows Vietnamese people are very hospitable is their smile I believe when foreigners come to Vietnam where the first thing they see is the smile and that is the beauty of the Vietnamese people. However, there is still some part of Vietnamese people are not being friendly and maybe even consider to be hostile against foreigners. But please don’t rush to compare Vietnam with other developed countries because our country still has many poor people and they need time to understand their consciousness.

II. Vietnamese hospitality through events and opinions of foreigners:

1.  US President Barack Obama

Not too long ago, US President, Barack Obama came to Vietnam, besides the usual diplomatic rites, he received the welcome of many Vietnamese people. More specifically, President Obama had an interesting experience when one evening he chose to stop at a vermicelli shop in the heart of the capital, to meet a friend, and drink beer together. Local and international newspapers have commented on this story a lot, but forget that, in order to have that image,  there must have the friendly, hospitable, emotional life of the Vietnamese people. This has created trust for the leader of one of the most powerful countries in the world. A Vietnamese environment is full of peace, stability, development and reaching dreams. The beloved Vietnamese homeland on every road is ready to be the most loving, honest and sincere person to welcome all foreign guests, no matter who it is.

Mr. JOHN LAND CASTER, American veteran in Vietnam, shares his experience in Vietnam:

“I have lived and worked in Vietnam for nearly 3 years. I must say that I love living in this country. First of all, because this is a beautiful, hospitable and safe country. Just look at what is happening in the world and compare with what we have witnessed on the streets of Vietnam, I can confirm that Vietnam is now the safest country in the world.

What really surprised me was the way Vietnam resolved, overcome the consequences of war and quickly brought the country into the development mechanism of the world. Another thing that surprised me more was: I myself work for a US non-governmental organization (NGO), an organization of US veterans who fought in Vietnam, but what is taking I came here to show me, the Vietnamese people absolutely do not want to arouse the past, there is no hostility towards those who have caused so much pain for their country. Your sincere and open attitude makes people feel and admire.”

In conclusion, we can all agree that Vietnamese people are foreigners’ best friend.
