About Tesla Education
Tesla Education is a fully authorised IB World School in Tân Bình, Ho Chi Minh City. Founded in 2015, we offer the complete IB continuum: the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. We are a member school of the Council of International Schools.
Our dual track model brings the IB together with the Vietnamese national curriculum. Students grow as confident global citizens while staying rooted in Vietnamese language and culture.
We are a young, ambitious school. Great teaching in every classroom, every day, is our priority. Our Tesla Teaching Framework (Connect, Teach, Practise, Reflect) sets a clear lesson rhythm that balances structured teaching with guided inquiry. We measure what matters and act on it. Joining us now means helping shape a full continuum school in its most important years.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a creative and organised STEM teacher to lead science, technology, engineering and mathematics across our primary school. Students at Tesla should design, build, test and improve. They should ask real questions and find real answers.
You will make STEM visible across the PYP. You will connect it to the programme of inquiry, work closely with homeroom teachers, and give our youngest learners the skills and curiosity they need for the MYP and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and learning
• Plan and teach engaging STEM lessons from Early Years to Grade 5, grounded in the PYP framework and its transdisciplinary themes.
• Use the Tesla Teaching Framework in every lesson. Balance clear explicit teaching with hands on, guided inquiry.
• Develop design thinking, coding, robotics, simple engineering, measurement and data handling at age appropriate levels.
• Differentiate for all learners, including students learning English as an additional language and students who need extra challenge.
• Teach and enforce the safe use of tools, materials and digital technologies.
Assessment and progress
• Assess learning against clear success criteria, using both formative and summative evidence.
• Record learning and progress on Toddle. Write accurate, personal report comments on time.
• Track student progress and use the data to adjust teaching. Share evidence of impact with the PYP Coordinator.
• Build student portfolios that capture the design process, not only the final product.
Curriculum and programme development
• Build and maintain a coherent STEM scope and sequence from Early Years to Grade 5, aligned with the PYP and relevant national curriculum outcomes in science and technology.
• Plan collaboratively with homeroom teachers so each unit of inquiry has a meaningful STEM connection. Contribute to PYP planners and the annual review of the programme of inquiry.
• Prepare students for the PYP to MYP transition, building early skills that lead into MYP Sciences and Design.
• Manage the STEM space and resources. Keep equipment safe, organised and well stocked, and submit resource requests within budget.
School life and community
• Lead STEM events such as a science fair, maker challenges or external competitions.
• Mentor students during the PYP Exhibition.
• Offer at least one STEM related after school activity.
• Share student learning with families through showcases, the Tesla Times newsletter and student led conferences.
• Take an active part in the house system, assemblies and whole school events.
Professional responsibilities
• Take part in lesson observations, coaching and IB professional development.
• Attend team meetings, collaborative planning and staff briefings.
• Follow all school policies, including child protection, health and safety, and data protection.
• Undertake other reasonable duties set by the PYP Coordinator or Head of School.
Personal Specification:
Recognised teaching qualification (for example PGCE, BEd or a state teaching licence)
Bachelor's degree in education, science, engineering, technology or a related field
At least two years of primary teaching experience, with a strong STEM focus
Sound understanding of inquiry based learning
Confident with educational technology and coding tools for young learners
Fluent English, written and spoken, at native or near native level
Clear commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Meets the requirements for a Vietnamese work permit (international candidates)
