Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

1. Curriculum

  • Teach Primary Subjects.

  • Prepare and submit programs each semester in line with school requirements.

  • Communicate teaching, learning, assessment activities, and feedback to pupils using the school’s Learning Management System.

  • Develop programs that cater inclusively to all pupils, supporting those in need as well as those requiring extension.

  • Work with other Primary teachers to ensure consistency of programs and assessment across year levels.

2. Assessment and Reporting

  • Assess and report on student achievement in line with the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standard for Primary Education.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student performance and achievement.

  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.

  • Provide relevant and meaningful feedback regularly and promptly to promote student learning.

  • Provide parents/caregivers with meaningful reports on student achievement.

  • Participate in internal and external moderation processes.

3. Teaching and Learning

  • Model exemplary teaching practice.

  • Use a range of teaching and learning strategies, including but not limited to direct instruction – whole-class and small-group instruction, class discussions, group work, independent learning, and practical activities.

  • Conduct formal parent-teacher meetings in accordance with the school’s parent-teacher meeting arrangements and schedule.

  • Actively seek and participate in opportunities for professional learning.

  • Participate in an annual appraisal process, which includes feedback from pupils.

4. General

  • Contribute broadly to the activities offered by the School, including supporting and attending School community events and participating in promotional activities at the request of the Principal.

  • Attend all staff meetings.

  • Undertake other duties as required.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional learning in relation to the requirements of this role.

5. Safety and Wellbeing

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education (B.Ed./M.Ed.) in a relevant subject area; or

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (BA/MA/BS/MS) plus a recognised teaching qualification or teaching licence (e.g. PGCEi, QTS, or a valid Australia Teaching License).

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience, preferably in an international school environment.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience teaching the Australian Curriculum and/or teaching in another Australian primary program.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, pupils, and parents from diverse backgrounds.

  • A high degree of professional judgment and confidentiality.

  • Superior organizational ability, with demonstrated self-motivation and initiative in goal setting, prioritizing work, and managing multiple tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate effectively across all areas and levels of a school community.

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and proven experience in creating solutions.

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English.
