Description
Responsibilities of Maths Teacher:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons aligned with:
+ Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics
+ Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) and Additional Mathematics (0606)
+ Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics (9709)
- Develop and implement comprehensive schemes of work that cover all required topics, skills, and problem-solving strategies for each level.
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages logical thinking, mathematical curiosity, and analytical skills across all age groups.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles and abilities, including interactive demonstrations, technology-enhanced learning, and hands-on activities.
- Guide students through skill development and conceptual understanding, adapting approaches to suit the level:
- Focus on fundamental mathematical concepts and numeracy skills in Lower Secondary
- Develop more advanced problem-solving skills and introduction to higher mathematics in IGCSE
- Foster sophisticated analytical thinking, proof techniques, and independent exploration at A Level
- Integrate appropriate technology, such as graphing calculators and mathematical software, into lessons to enhance understanding and prepare students for modern mathematical practices.
- Prepare students for Cambridge examinations at each level, including guidance on problem-solving strategies, exam techniques, and time management.
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly, using both formative and summative assessment techniques aligned with Cambridge standards for each level.
- Provide detailed and constructive feedback on students' work, including problem sets, investigations, and exam-style questions.
- Organize and lead extracurricular mathematics activities, such as math clubs, competitions, and olympiads.
- Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and mathematical development through regular meetings and reports.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular links, particularly with sciences, economics, and computer science.
- Stay updated with current developments in mathematics education, including new approaches to teaching and learning mathematics.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other school activities.
- Support older students in their university applications, particularly those pursuing mathematics, engineering, or related STEM fields.
Responsibilities of Science Teacher:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with:
- Cambridge Lower Secondary Science (Stages 7–9)
- Cambridge IGCSE Sciences (Combined or Coordinated Science, or subject-specific depending on school offering)
- Develop and implement effective schemes of work that integrate scientific knowledge, practical skills, and real-world applications.
- Foster an inquiry-based learning environment where students build curiosity, ask questions, and solve problems through observation, experimentation, and reflection.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including group work, hands-on experiments, multimedia tools, and formative assessments.
- Ensure safe laboratory practices in accordance with school and curriculum guidelines.
- Guide students in scientific literacy, including how to write lab reports, analyze data, and interpret evidence critically.
- Support students in developing core competencies across biology, chemistry, and physics, appropriate to their level.
- Prepare students for IGCSE examinations, including practice with multiple question types, lab-based assessments, and exam techniques.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using formative and summative assessment methods.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students' academic development and well-being.
- Work collaboratively with the Science department team to ensure curriculum continuity and a cohesive progression across key stages.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities as part of a vibrant school community.
- Encourage participation in extracurricular science activities, such as science fairs, STEM competitions, and clubs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science)
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or international equivalent)
- At least 5 years of experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting
- In-depth knowledge of the Cambridge curricula from Lower Secondary to A Level
- Excellent understanding of assessment and examination requirements for all relevant Cambridge Maths/ Science and Physics qualifications
- Strong classroom and laboratory management skills with ability to adapt to different age groups
- Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance physics teaching and learning
