Description
DTP Education Solutions is looking for creative and highly motivated people who would like to develop a career in ELT materials development.
As a materials developer you will be working in an office with an experienced team of international and local writers. Although writing is primarily an individual task, interacting with team members to share ideas/experience, and give feedback on tasks, language usage and approaches will be a key part of the daily workflow.
During the training process, you will develop a broad range of skills, including creating lesson materials for print/digital content, syllabus planning, materials review, content editing and project management. Continuous professional development will be facilitated through a combination of formal training/input sessions, hands-on application and focused feedback from editors, and mentoring from senior writers and editorial staff.
As a solid candidate, you will come into this role with a good understanding of learner needs and abilities, based upon significant classroom experience with a range of ages, abilities and class types. You will have used a range of teaching materials, but will have often felt the need to change or adapt them to better fit your lessons.
Although you feel you already have a pretty solid understanding of English, you realize that there is much you don’t consciously understand about your mother language, but you have a real interest and curiosity both in how language is used to communicate, and in finding the best ways of passing this along to your students.
You will be highly motivated to learn new things, keen to share knowledge, and open to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Writing lessons and study materials for a range of levels and age groups
- Preparing, reviewing and editing a range of educational, and marketing products
- Assisting with the planning of new activities, syllabi and courses
Requirements:
- Native English speaker
- A CELTA (or equivalent) certificate in ELT teaching
- 6+ years of recent ELT teaching experience across a range of student ages/abilities
- A solid understanding of English form, meaning and use, and the ability to use this understanding to create natural and interesting materials and learning tasks for a range of levels
- A meticulous, punctual and responsible work approach
- A university degree and all requirements for a work permit
- Previous experience in materials creation and/or publishing, is an asset
What we offer:
- Training and experience in a high value profession
- A supportive and collaborative work environment
- A range of higher training and promotional opportunities
