Job Overview:

Renaissance International School Saigon is looking for highly educated and experienced PYP teachers, with a passion for student agency and collaboration. Successful candidates will be open-minded, reflective and positive contributors to our school community.

Responsibilities and Duties Inside the Classroom:

Renaissance teachers are responsible for:

  • Having a working knowledge of the UK National curriculum and the PYP/MYP scope and sequence documentation
  • Planning and documenting unit plans and weekly learning experiences that are aligned to the IB philosophy and documented using Toddle software
  • Regular collaboration with year group partners, specialist teachers, and the PYP Coordinator
  • Delivering authentic and meaningful learning experiences that are inquiry-based and designed to allow students to create, make, innovate, build and design
  • Developing a robotics programme beginning in Year 1 with simple block coding of BeeBots and progressing through Year 6 with building and coding Lego robots
  • Gathering ongoing assessment feedback through the use of diagnostic, formative and summative assessment tools and using that feedback to design future learning experiences
  • Communicating weekly with parents through classroom updates, using Toddle software
  • A positive approach to behaviour management, with a focus on restorative conversations and activities
  • 6 hours of timetabled time working within and collaborating with the MYP design department.

Responsibilities and Duties Outside the Classroom:

Renaissance teachers are responsible for:

  • 3 x 30-minute playtime or lunchtime supervision duties
  • 2 x 45-minute extra-curricular activities (these take place during the school day)
  • Always Promoting the school positively (including meetings with professional bodies, individuals and on social network sites).
  • Working with fellow colleagues in a spirit of collaboration to maintain and enhance a pleasant professional working environment.
  • Substituting for absent colleagues when necessary.
  • Attending punctually on all occasions agreed in the contract and as reasonably requested by the Head of Primary and Early Years
  • Participating in after/out of school events such as: staff team briefing, staff team meetings, parents’ evenings, residential/educational visits, as may be reasonably requested.
  • Offering full support to and actively participating in the school’s extra-curricular activity programme.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as instructed by the Head of School after appropriate consultation.

Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has extensive PYP teaching experience.
  • Has experience documenting planning using Toddle software.
  • Is a collaborator and positive driver for change
  • Is reflective, open-minded and flexible
  • Holds certificates for Making the PYP Happen, Concept-Based Learning and Assessment
  • Has worked in a Round Square school

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • An internationally recognized Teacher Certification
  • A degree relevant to the transdisciplinary subjects offered within the Primary school
  • Native English Speaker
