Description

Gateway International School in Hai Phong City is looking for a Principal for 2019 - 2020 school year.

Principal provides the leadership needed to ensure the success of the school in fulfilling its mission. The Principal is responsible for providing a challenging, effective, well-rounded international educational experience for all students. The Principal is also responsible for the direction and supervision of all personnel who perform their respective functions within the school.

The Principal reports directly to the Director of School (DoS) at Gateway International School Hai Phong (GIS HP). The Principal is also expected to provide regular reports to the DoS. The Principal is the one who oversees the academic standards and direction of the school.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. General
  • Ensures the Gateway School’s Mission, Beliefs, and Objectives are well articulated within the school
  • Ensures high expectations for all members of the school, including staff and students

in the way they perform their responsibilities

  • Supports the continuous improvement of the school and the development of a shared

vision of learning and action

  • Maintains a positive, interactive and transparent relationship with the school community
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration among assigned department personnel, GIS personnel and campus academic leaders to enhance service delivery, program development and customer satisfaction
  • Contributes actively and creatively supports the whole-school Administrative team. Chairs monthly academic meetings.
  • Upholds and recommends policies and procedures that have impact on the school divisions

and the whole school, in general

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the DoS

2. Instructional Leadership

  • Works closely with the English Research and Pedagogy Council (ERPC) to ensure that rigorous instruction and curricula are the norm
  • Collaborates with the ERPC and Vice Principal on issues of curriculum development
  • Works with the ERPC on the production of secondary curriculum and promotional documentation
  • Models strong instructional leadership by maintaining a strong professional culture

with a focus on continuously improving teaching and learning

  • Takes initiative to inspire and to develop professional development opportunities for

all staff tied to programmatic, curricular, and/or objective-based initiatives

3. Student Life

  • Works collaboratively with the administration to ensure health and safety of all

students are paramount

  • Works with the Vice Principal in maintaining a consistent and fair behavior management system for students
  • Actively promotes international education opportunities for students to develop global

leadership skills and an understanding of global issues

  • Supervises and approves field trips, staff development activities, assemblies, report card distribution, parent/teacher conferences, and other special events
  • Attends school performances and fixtures

4. Personnel Management

  • Leads a system of faculty/staff monitoring whereby all teachers receive systematic feedback on their professional performance
  • Oversees the process of recruiting high quality teachers for the school
  • Plans, proposes and manages staff assignments for the entire school
  • Organizes programs of assistance and orientation for new teachers
  • Leads periodical cycle of KPI setting and performance appraisal for the Principal himself/herself and all school personnel under his/her direct supervision (Elementary School, Middle School, and High School).

5. Business, Finance and School Operations as it relates to the Academic program

  • Develops school improvement plans with staff that align with the overall business strategy as well as the individual campus’s long-term and short-term goals
  • Supervises and assists the admissions functions of the school, including recruitment programs, internal marketing, external outreach, website and social media development and maintenance, information dissemination, applicant testing and interviewing, and decision-making process
  • Uses meaningful data and statistics to make informed decisions on school improvement
  • Is responsible for preparation of the teacher handbook and parent/student handbook
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the school master calendar
  • Develops procedures for maintenance of permanent records

 

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Master Degree or equivalent
  • Degree in Education related discipline (administration, management or curriculum development)
  • Updated training in relevant areas of expertise

Experiences

  • A minimum of five years of educational experience including at least three years of experience in the area of administration
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining good rapport with students, parents, and staff
  • Demonstrated skills in public speaking and written communication
