Job Description

Natural Science Teacher

Position Overview

The Natural Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Natural Science lessons, developing curriculum and instructional materials, designing assessments, evaluating student performance, and providing constructive feedback to support student achievement. The role also contributes to curriculum development, school-wide academic initiatives, and collaborative activities in alignment with the school's educational philosophy and academic standards.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Natural Science Lead Teacher to develop the annual academic plan for the Natural Science Department and contribute to departmental and personal teaching objectives.

  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and instructional resources with clearly defined learning objectives.

  • Deliver engaging and effective Natural Science lessons while ensuring students' wellbeing and classroom management.

  • Design and implement student-centred learning activities that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and scientific understanding.

  • Apply innovative teaching strategies to maximise student learning outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate student records and update class information through the school's Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Design, administer, and evaluate assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

  • Prepare academic reports and student progress reports as required by the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Prepare materials for and participate in parent-teacher meetings, including individual conferences when required.

  • Perform additional teaching-related duties such as student supervision, lunch duty, advisory responsibilities, extracurricular clubs, and After-School Activities (ASA).

Professional & School Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to implement initiatives that enhance teaching quality, student engagement, and academic achievement.

  • Participate actively in professional development programmes, training sessions, and school workshops.

  • Build positive and respectful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Participate in school events, academic activities, and community programmes.

  • Support admissions, marketing, and student recruitment events when required.

  • Contribute to WASC accreditation initiatives and Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) requirements as assigned.

  • Undertake other duties assigned by the Academic Team, Senior Leadership Team, or Board of Management.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Science Education, or a related field.

  • Valid teaching qualification or teaching licence (where applicable).

  • Experience teaching Natural Science in an international, bilingual, or high-quality educational environment.

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and student-centred instructional practices.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.

  • Strong organisational, collaboration, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international curricula such as Cambridge, IB, or other internationally recognised programmes.

  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational technology.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and collaborative teaching practices.
