Description
I. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Ensure the effective implementation and ongoing quality of the Western Australia Kindergarten (WAK) Program in alignment with its educational philosophy, curriculum content, and teaching standards set by the Western Australian framework. This position contributes to improving teaching and learning quality, enhancing staff professional capacity, and fostering a child-centered learning environment.
II. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Coordination and Implementation
- Guide and oversee the implementation of the WAK program in classrooms in alignment with its philosophy and developmental goals.
- Design semester/yearly learning plans based on the Western Australian framework and adapt them flexibly to the local context.
- Support teachers in developing lesson plans that apply play-based, integrated, and inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Staff Training and Professional Development
- Provide direction and support for teachers to deeply understand the philosophy and pedagogical approaches of the Western Australian program.
- Design and conduct training sessions, professional sharing, and classroom observations with feedback to enhance teaching capacity.
- Mentor and coach new teachers during their integration into the WAK program.
- Teaching Quality Evaluation and Assurance
- Evaluate children's learning progress and development based on WAK program criteria.
- Develop a system of evidence and assessment tools to evaluate teacher competencies, lesson quality, and student learning portfolios.
- Conduct regular classroom observations, analyze data, and recommend appropriate instructional improvements.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as a communication bridge between the School Leadership Team and WAK teaching staff, ensuring clear and effective information flow.
- Coordinate parent workshops or sharing sessions to help families better understand the program and their child’s development.
- Support the planning and implementation of academic events and learning exhibitions aligned with the characteristics of the Western Australia program.
III. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience and 1–2 years in an academic leadership role in a bilingual or international early childhood education setting.
- Skills
- Strong pedagogical skills, particularly in play-based learning, integrated instruction, and competency-based child development.
- Academic leadership and the ability to support teachers in their professional growth.
- Classroom observation and evaluation skills, along with the ability to design instructional improvements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively convey educational direction and vision.
