German Teachers help students improve their German language skills; following the middle school and high school standardized curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the German Teacher are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Teach, in an age appropriate way, the German language to children in classes 6-1
  • Plan, initiate and guide study in German which meets curriculum requirements per class age
  • Foster class/age appropriate thought, discussion, reading, comprehension, speaking, listening, writing in the German language
  • Undertake appropriate preparation, syllabi, study and training as necessary for the effective delivery of the curriculum expectations
  • Plan sequential curricula, with each year's course of study building upon previous year's work and toward the following year's work and expectations
  • Ensuring all curriculum meet all requirements of the Common Core Curriculum.
  • Supervise, manage and assess the class children in accordance with their age and abilities
  • Create age/class appropriate assessments and evaluate their attainment accordingly
  • Differentiate the tasks set according to ability
  • Provide assessment results/teaching update to the School Management Team as required
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator

Required Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from in the field of German language, preferable German Philology; a master's degree is preferable;
  • A relevant certification or license for teaching is required;
  • Be familiar with the US highschool education, especially Common Core Curriculum;
  • Excellent in professional, academic and communicational English, English as mother tongue is preferred;
  • A passion for German language and language art and literature to inspire students;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to engage with young people and develop lesson plans that resonate with them;
  • Compassion and a personable manner;
  • Resilience and the ability to work with students from multiple backgrounds.
