Description

Overview

We are looking for passionate and dedicated educators. As a teacher and mentor, you will cultivate a love of learning through Point Avenue products and inquiry-based learning activities. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to teaching various classes, curriculum building, grading assignments, evaluating students’ progress, researching fun activities, and communicating with parents.

Our ideal candidate would be a competent professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate would also demonstrate outstanding presentation and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Working hours: 40hours/ week (Including teaching hours and admin hours) with 2 days off per week.

  • Weekdays: 1pm - 9pm
  • Weekends: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
    (Including break time)
  • Working time will be discussed and agreed with the supervisor.
  1. Class Preparation
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities promptly at both a group class level and tutoring.
  • Create lesson plans and curricula and modify them throughout the terms, tracks, and seasons.
  • Use curriculums that meet the Point Avenue standards.
  • Develop and issue educational content, including notes, tests, and assignments.
  • Teach up to 21 hours per week during Fall and Spring terms and up to 30 hours per week during Summer and Winter camp sessions.
  1. Class Management
  • Maintain student accountability and safety (e.g., attendance and behavior management) to encourage a productive and holistic learning environment.
  • Teach the lesson plans based on course objectives and ensure student success, as well as Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
  • Teach students aged 4-18 with an average 6-12 class size.
  • Implement character-based education in all classes and provide mentorship throughout the student’s journey.
  1. After-Class Activities
  • Assign and grade homework, assignments, and tests.
  • Provide written reports (mid-term/end of term) for individual students.
  • Document students’ progress (i.e., progress reports and parent communication).
  • Maintain parent communication with support from local course consultants.
  • Provide information on student progress to teaching assistants to continue the development of students.
  • Attend weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly huddles/meetings as needed.
  • Attend training sessions, spars, developmental workshops, and skillshares.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and skillshares.
  • Attend Summer/Winter Day/Boarding camps
    • Academic Day Camps: We offer Academy, Debate, Test Prep and Admissions Consulting camps at our centers in Hanoi over 3-4 sessions lasting 2-3 weeks per session.
    • Boarding Camps: We offer Summer/Winter Leaders’ Camps at 5-star resorts outside of Hanoi, usually in popular cities like Sapa, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Ha Long Bay, etc. Boarding camps have 3-4 sessions lasting 2 weeks per session.
  • Provide support to new team members within Point Avenue during their onboarding.
  • Any other assigned tasks under the direction and supervision of the Department Senior Teacher, Product Lead, or Academic Director.
  1. Sales and Marketing
    • Conduct student diagnostics, discuss outcomes with parents/guardians, provide feedback on student skills, and recommend academic courses within the Academic Department (Academy, Debate, Test Prep, Day Camp, Leaders’ Camp, and Admissions Consulting.
    • Provide demo classes, experience day activities, webinars, seminars, workshops, and recordings to support the sales and marketing departments.
    • Work alongside the Department Senior Teacher, Product Lead, Research and Development, and Academic Director to increase profit, decrease loss within the specific department, and cross-collaborate with other departments to achieve the company’s sales targets.
    • Support internal and external student competitions within Point Avenue.
    • Provide suggestions and feedback for future promotions, branding, and marketing materials, and highlight specific curriculum components that will showcase Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and success.

Courses / Programs

Teachers/mentors will be assigned to a specific Department; however, they may be called on occasionally to support other academic departments and cross-teach some products. Training will be provided ahead of time if any teacher/mentor is required to teach a course they have yet to be trained in.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Native/fluent English speaker
  • Teaching Certification (TESOL/TEFL/CELTA)
  • Any additional educational certifications/licenses
  • Any additional academic experiences (i.e., Debate, tutoring)
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized with leadership abilities
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Curriculum development experience preferred
