HS English Language and Literature
Position Overview
This position will consist of a full-time assignment teaching in the middle school and high school. The job will entail both teaching and curriculum building for the future program at the school, including the development of an IB Diploma Programme. Theschool operates on a 4-period rotating block schedule, and teachers are assigned to teach 5 of 8 blocks (or equivalent). All teachers have extra responsibilities since, as a new school, we are all working together to develop both curriculum and processes.

● Attend and constructively contribute in staff meetings
● Assist in supervision of student breaks
● Coordinate class activities as deemed necessary
Plan for, assess, and report student learning and progress within the DGS framework
● Provide regular and timely feedback to students
● Establish links with the parent community to ensure that parents are kept well informed about student progress
● Assist, as required, in the development of social and emotional curricular materials
● Act as a resource/contact/support for new staff members (i.e. curriculum, schedules, procedures)
● Participate in and assist with school events as required


Role-specific requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in subject matter
Middle school license or certification for teaching English
● Minimum of three years relevant professional experience
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers and others
Ability to differentiate instruction for all learners
● Ability to collaborate with the student support team and other systems to ensure
student growth
Ability to participate in and establish collaborative structures, positive attitude
Proven ability to develop successful academic programs and curricula
A spirit of collaboration both within and across multiple departments
● Ability to integrate technology effectively into classes on site, or in a distance learning and/or hybrid environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
Recent and relevant professional development in teaching and learning
Experience using Understanding by Design to develop learning units
Proven ability to work in a International school environment
Experience working in an IB Diploma school
Experience coaching sports and/or supervising student activities General Teaching Responsibilities
