The evolution of technology has greatly impacted the English education in Vietnam. Now, the English teacher in Vietnam must adapt to changes in English teaching caused by technology.

1/ Why should English teacher in Vietnam use technology

The advancement of science and technology is helping teachers to carry out their professional work very easily by putting real-life knowledge into lectures, communicating effectively with the students, organizing group learning and learning activities. Collaboration, project learning helps students deepen their knowledge and develop more problem-solving skills, teamwork, an organization of work … Moreover, it also facilitates the best demand-based learning for the student.

We can also use information technology for learning English when there is no environment to practice. There are English programs that are applied using information technology in a methodical way to help students practice English every day, and get immediate results.

2/ The use of the Internet

Through the Internet, you can contact English language learners and programs around the world. Furthermore, looking up a word, an idiom or a phrase is so much easier now with the existence of the Internet. With just a few clicks you can get access to a huge variety of English lessons.

For example Thanks to the Internet, teachers can help Japanese students learn English and American students learn Japanese by connecting directly to each other via the Internet. Through such communication, it is possible to enhance the use of English effectively.

    II. Interactive Classroom – The embody of technology in English teaching:

    whiteboard_02One of the most effective applications of technology into teaching and learning foreign languages is the interactive class system – Interactive Classroom.  This includes interactive tables, interactive lesson design software, built-in teaching tools, teaching efficiency assessment tools and multimedia libraries … These are integral parts of an Interactive Classroom. Now,  to really creating a natural environment for teaching and learning foreign languages, learners need to feel like they are communicating with native speakers. With the support of this software and equipment, teachers have enhanced professional quality, shortened lesson design time, promoted teaching effectiveness, built many interactive activities in class. , better support and control of their students, optimize each student’s ability. At the same time, help students to be confident, proactive, bold and actively participate in the teaching activities of teachers.     III. The implementation of technology in Vietnam:

The main reason for this is that the class size in Vietnam is very large, the number of students is high. This will make some of the technology mentioned above become much less effective. Moreover, with a larger classroom, it will be harder for the teacher to manage whether the students are using technology for studying or just simply use social media or playing games.

    In conclusion, no matter how advanced technology can be, teachers still play the most important role. With classrooms with a large number of students, the teaching method must be changed so that students can progress together.
