We are therefore seeking to appoint teachers who can:

  • Demonstrate through wide knowledge and experience how the Cambridge Curriculum works
    and willingly share their expertise, ideas and resources with others.
  • Promote, monitor and evaluate lively, creative teaching with a systematic approach to SOWs, lesson planning, record keeping, standardization, assessment and report writing.
  • Demonstrate application of continuous formative assessment.
  • Go the extra mile to help each of our students succeed.
  • Readily adapt to the school and wider Vietnamese culture.
  • Understand that working in a different culture is as much about the postholder learning from the environment as it is about the students learning from the postholder.
  • Be a great team player, demonstrating ample empathy, patience, tolerance, goodwill…and a sense of humour!

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential

  • Evidence of scholarship or experience in the development of improved teaching methods,
    particularly in relation to the Cambridge Curricular or international education.

Desirable

  • A degree in education or a degree in a relevant discipline and a recognized post graduate
    teaching qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ teaching experience in a Cambridge Curricular or other internationally accredited school.

Skills and abilities required by the position

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and encouraging learners to reach their full potential and
    perform to their highest capability.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and an evident ability to enthuse a team of fellow dedicated teachers.
  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Special requirement for Expatriate Teachers:

  • A current passport is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possess a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the teaching or their subject and take account
    of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to their work.
  • Have regard to the School’s curriculum in planning and preparing courses and lessons.
  • Consistently and effectively plan lessons and sequences of lessons to meet pupils’ individual learning needs, differentiating to allow for and support the different levels in the classroom
  • Use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and classroom management.
  • Demonstrate that they are effective professionals who challenge and support all pupils to do their best through:
  • Inspiring trust and confidence
  • Building team commitment
  • Engaging and motivating pupils
  • Analytical thinking
  • Positive action to improve the quality of pupils’ learning.
  • Use information about prior attainment to set well-grounded expectations for pupils and monitor/track progress to give clear and constructive feedback.
  • Regularly assess pupil’s work with constructive feedback that highlight areas of strength and weakness and possible improvement: all available evidence suggests that high quality, clear, detailed and sensitively written marking and feedback is the way to maximize student learning.
  • Monitor student progress regarding assessment results and reports.
  • Record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils, including their social or emotional needs.
  • Secure close support and relationship with parents to reinforce their confidence in the school.
  • Demonstrate that, as a result of their teaching, their pupils achieve well relative to the pupils’ prior attainment, making progress as good as or better than similar pupils. This should be shown in marks or grades in any relevant tests that are taken.
  • Demonstrate that they take responsibility for their professional development and use the outcomes to improve their teaching and pupils’ learning.
  • Participate in meetings at the school that relate to the curriculum.
  • Demonstrate that they make an active contribution to the policies and aspirations of the school.
  • Maintain good health, safety, order and discipline among pupils, safeguarding their health and safety both when they are authorized to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorized school activities elsewhere.
  • Take part in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organization and pastoral function of the school.
  • Ensure the academic integrity of the curriculum and its delivery and the monitoring of the student outcomes at each level and subject.
  • Monitor internal and external assessment procedures including, where appropriate, National Curriculum, Cambridge Progression and Cambridge Young Learners' Testing.

Position Authority and Reporting

  • The Teacher reports to the Principal who, as the line manager is responsible for reviewing and,
    appraising his/her performance.
