Description

Job Summary:
The School Guidance Counsellor and Psychologist will be responsible for providing counselling and psychological support to students, promoting their well-being, and ensuring their academic and personal success. The counsellor will report to the Character Education Lead and will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of students
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement interventions and support plans for students
- Support the development and delivery of character education programs and initiatives
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development activities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student counselling sessions and interventions
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
- Keep abreast of current research and best practices in school counselling and psychology
- Other duties as assigned by the Character Education Lead or school administration

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in counselling or psychology, with a focus on school counselling or related field
- Current licensure or certification as a school psychologist or counsellor
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing counselling and psychological support to students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in school counselling and psychology
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of work
- Positive and collaborative approach to work

Working Conditions:
- Work in a school environment, with regular interaction with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- May need to work occasional evenings or weekends
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of work
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse population of students, families, and staff
