Covid-19 Information in Vietnam
As of 15, November 2021, Vietnam recorded a total of 1,026, 522 cases of Covid 19. However, 863,311 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. Many cities and provinces have had over 95% first-vaccine coverage for their adult populations; meanwhile, about 50% of people administered the full-dose vaccine.
This is Vietnam’s one of the first steps on the journey to achieving herd immunity within the country.
How To Return To Vietnam During The New Normal?
To be able to return to Vietnam at this time, you must be in one of the following categories:
- You are experts, investors, business managers, members of a Vietnamese family.
- You are guaranteed, invited, and welcome to enter the country by agencies and organizations in Vietnam.
- You are an international student entering to study in Vietnam.
- You are one of the international tourists for package tours in 5 provinces( Kien Giang, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ninh) via charter flights.
Which Documents Are Needed When I Return To Vietnam?
Below is the list of important documents that you need to prepare and keep during your flights because they can be required anytime even when you are in Vietnam.
- Visa application form
- Download the visa application form, then fill it in. (link download)
- Prepare 2 photos 4x6cm, one is glued at the right top corner and the left will be asked at the airport.
- Check the information one more time to make sure that everything is correct, as in your passport.
- Visa approval letter
No matter when you want to return to Vietnam, you also need to have a Vietnam entry permit (or Vietnam entry approval or Vietnam visa approval letter). This document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department allows you to enter and stay in Vietnam in a set period.
So, all foreigners who desire to enter Vietnam, regardless of whether they have a valid visa or a temporary resident card, and must have an entry permit before arriving.
You are not allowed to board the airplane and get a visa if you lack it. So ensure that you have and print it out before going to the airport.
Flight ticket
This is an important thing you can’t forget because you are not allowed to board the airplane unless you have it.
Passport
If a flight ticket and visa are extremely important for your travel, a passport is not less. Because it is used to identify you as a citizen of a country that your nation can protect when you are abroad and give you the right to come back there.
Vaccine passport
Vietnam recognizes vaccine passports from 72 countries and territories in the world. It would be an advantage if you come from a country whose vaccine passport has been accepted in Vietnam, you‘ll have many benefits.
If you do possess a vaccine passport, you can visit certain places without quarantine such as Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, and Quang Ninh. Thus, don’t forget to bring it with you.
Hotel confirmation for being quarantined.
It is mandatory for all other incoming travelers to Vietnam to complete a 7-day centralized quarantine, even if you have a vaccine passport. You can choose concentrated isolation areas or self-selected quarantine facilities.
Thus, if you opt for a hotel for having your quarantine, you need to have a document for confirmation.
Business registration of your sponsor/employer
You should ask your sponsor or employer in Vietnam for registering and obtaining the permit for your entry. This document will be a confirmation for you to have permission to enter Vietnam.
An original PCR Covid test certificate
You need to have a negative COVID-19 test result that does not exceed 72 hours before your flight. Please note that it must be qualified by WHO or the government where you live. The document in English is a requirement.

- Bachelor degree
- Teaching certificate (TESOL, TEFL,…)
- C1/ IELTS certificate
- Teaching experience confirmation letter

How To Make Medical Declaration When I Return To Vietnam?
The government requires all passengers to complete the online entry health declaration form within 24h arriving in Vietnam. To be able to do it, please follow our guide below:
Step 1: Get access to Medical Declaration Management System at https://tokhaiyte.vn/. Then you can select your suitable language to declare your information conveniently.
Step 2: Read carefully, then fill in the blankets in the form. Please notice that if the box has a sign “*”, you are required to fill it, otherwise, you will not be allowed to submit it.
Step 3: Reach this step; you need to choose a form of quarantine because, according to the Vietnam government, all passengers entering here must be quarantined upon entry. As mentioned above, if you have a vaccine passport, you can reduce the quarantine period to 7 days instead of 21 days as usual.
Also, you need to show a negative COVID-19 test result effective within three days or a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 prior to entry. Take a shot, then upload it.
Step 4: Enter the verification code in the last box of the declaration form. Finally, submit and wait until the screen appears the message “Sincerely thank you for completing the medical declaration” and instructions. After that, you need to go to the workplace of the medical staff to get a confirmation before going through the immigration check-in counter.
How Can I Understand “5K Message” In Vietnam During Covid 19 Pandemic?
What do you need to do after entering Vietnam first? There is nothing important as following strictly the “5k ” regulation! You need to know them by heart when you return to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Health launched the 5K message in Vietnamese since the beginning of the covid-19 outbreak: “Khẩu Trang (Facemask) – Khử khuẩn (Disinfection) –
Khoảng cách( Distance) – Không tập trung (No gathering) – Khai báo y tế( Health declaration)”. This helps you prevent the virus from spreading and keep each other safe in Vietnam. Therefore, comply with these regulations to protect yourself when living far from home!
