Vietnam and the whole world are being greatly affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. To prevent the disease, in addition to implementing the 5K recommendation of the Ministry of Health, a COVID-19 vaccination campaign helps us reduce the risk of catching the virus and reduce the level of severity. The more people are vaccinated, the faster we can end the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to medical experts, vaccination is one of the effective and proactive measures to prevent dangerous infectious diseases, helping to reduce complications, severe sequelae and death. Just like vaccines help prevent other infectious diseases. The COVID-19 vaccine helps our bodies develop immunity against the virus that causes COVID-19.
“In addition to reducing the number of people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, vaccines against COVID-19 will help reduce the number of cases of severe complications due to the disease, reduce the number of people hospitalized for treatment due to mild illness. and reduce the risk of death”. Therefore, vaccination against Covid-19 is an effective measure to help our lives return to normal.
To ensure vaccination safety, vaccination participants need to prepare before vaccination such as self-assessment of their own risk, if there is a risk of COVID-19 they need to be tested to ensure they are not infected with the virus. If you have any symptoms such as fever or symptoms of infection, notify your doctor and do not go to the COVID-19 vaccination site.
Before the COVID-19 vaccination:
Vaccination participants need to fully inform the doctor about their health status including medical history, history of allergy to any medicine, especially allergy to the dose of vaccine they took earlier in the previous injection.
For young children:
Parents need to monitor the kid’s health status to notify the doctor during the pre-injection screening process.
– If the child has not met the weight standard or has one of the medical symptoms, the vaccination schedule must be delayed until the child is at an adequate weight, without having fever or is cured.
– If the child has severe reactions after vaccination in the previous injections, the next one will not be conducted (if any).
– When taking a child for vaccination, parents (caregivers) need to bring a complete immunization record/card and fully notify the health status, the drugs being used for the doctor to monitor and coordinate with the parents to provide a reasonable vaccination schedule, to avoid omission or confusion.

During the injection session:
People who go for injections need to comply with the regulations of the injection session in accordance with the procedures of the Ministry of Health.
After the injection is complete:
– The vaccinated person needs to stay at the vaccination site to be consulted and monitored by medical staff for at least 30 minutes.
– After returning home, the vaccinated person needs to monitor their health for at least 2 days. Things to watch out for include symptoms such as swelling, heat, and redness at the injection spot (be careful not to put anything on the injection spot).
– If fever is present, you need to monitor body temperature, take temperature when having a fever, and use antipyretic at the correct dose ass well as watch out for your body response to antipyretic.
– If any abnormal signs of health are detected, immediately notify the medical staff for timely advice and treatment, carefully keep the vaccination confirmation sheet and bring it to the injection point when going for the next injection.
Recommendation for people in the priority groups of COVID-19 vaccination:
- To ensure the maximum effectiveness of the vaccine, each person needs to receive 2 full doses of the vaccine and the vaccination coverage rate must reach 70% – 85% to have herd immunity against COVID-19 disease. .
- At the same time, after vaccination, it is still necessary to take measures to prevent epidemics (5K message) to ensure the safety of themselves, their families and the community against the COVID-19 pandemic.
