Some students took shorter courses before they started long term business trips in foreign countries. The job not only included teaching English, but also overall communication and cultural differences in business interactions.

The job included teaching general English to a wide range of students from very young learner to adults. Most students were learning through personal interest, mostly to interact with foreign people during vacations. In addition, their was a focus on having students pass Japanese English examinations, and other examinations such as IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC.

The university offered English learning to students in conjunction with their chosen major. Focus was on teaching grammar points and correct pronunciation. In addition, the role involved marking written exams. Although most students were young adults, there were some high school aged children in the classes.

Working in a government high school, the focus of the job was to expose students to native speakers through the teaching of English. In addition, the job included creating and assessing speaking tests, as well as, grading students on their overall performance at the end of the term.
