TEFL Academy — TEFL Course (120 hours), 2016 (Merit)

City University London — MA Musicology, 2015 (First Class) | My MA research was primarily concerned with the cultural and aesthetic implications of technology-use in sound-based art. However, I also gained valuable experience in teaching and departmental organization. As the student representative for my course, I attended department meetings on a regular basis, contributing to and learning about the financial, pedagogic, and structural organization of the department. I also created and led a bi-weekly seminar entitled ‘Philosophy and Aesthetics of Music’ due to the lack of content concerning these topics in the course structure. This seminar was attended by students of all levels, from undergraduate to Ph.D., and has now been made a permanent departmental offering because of its success. As a key member of the City University Experimental Ensemble, I was also involved in various performances which added to my competence in public- speaking and leadership, including the premiere of Daniel Wolffe’s Phones and Microphones (2015) at Cafe OTO, and Jon Richards’ Hidden Sine (2015) at City University London.

Kingston University — BA Creative Music Technologies (First Class), 2011-2014 | In my BA, I was exposed to the theory and practice of canonic and contemporary researchers in arts education, leading me to develop a keen interest in all aspects of pedagogy. I was also involved in the Kingston University Digital Arts Collective (KUDAC), a unique laptop ensemble focusing on electronic, musical improvisation. Not only did I take a theoretical interest in education, but I also experienced it practically. Through this balance of practice and theory, I made some interesting observations which led me to deliver conference presentations on electronic music pedagogy at the Institute of Education, Cambridge University, and later The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

A highly resourceful, flexible, and fun-loving English language teacher with experience working for ISHCMC, American Academy, and GELA English.

Content Manager, MRR Media, HCMC/London — October 2017-April 2018 | I was taken on by MRR media to manage a team of writers and editors based in Ho Chi Minh City and oversee their transition from the office environment to remote working. During this time I wrote, edited, and published articles for Forbes, Huffington Post, and other big names in digital business marketing.

Teacher, GELA Education, Ho Chi Minh City — April 2017-December 2017 | Working in public schools, both in class and at events, helped me to develop my confidence as a teacher. During my time with GELA I taught classes of over 50 children and hosted workshops and events for crowds of up to 700. This enabled me to thoroughly hone my skills as an educator and presenter.

Teacher, ISHCMC (International School Ho Chi Minh City) — August 2017-September 2017 | I was employed by ISHCMC to develop and teach a professional development course to educational support staff on formality and informality in written communication. Over a course of 6 weeks, I taught elements of style and prose and gave Vietnamese staff the confidence to write emails and letters to colleagues and parents without fault.

Teacher, AMA (America Academy of English) Binh Thanh — September 2017-October 2018 | In my role as a class teacher and IELTS trainer at AMA Binh Thanh, I carried out English testing and training for children and adults. I worked hard to make lessons fun, devising novel ways to engage learners for future success. My students progressed exponentially as I am an experienced writer with a detailed knowledge of grammar and style.

Customer Advisor, Fittleworth Medical, Littlehampton — September 2015-August 2016 | As a customer advisor for a national medical supplier, I was responsible for providing a high level of customer service to clients, nurses, and medical professionals in the day-to-day management of customer orders and the processing of prescriptions.

Concerts Assistant, City University, London — April-July (2015) | In this role, I contributed to the organization of highly technical, multimedia concerts for the university music department. As well as this my responsibilities also include marketing, artist relations, and front-of-house duties.

Workshop Leader, Transformance Music, London — 2014-2015 | As an assistant to the primary workshop leader in iPad music workshops with KS2 children, I gained valuable experience teaching to a lesson plan and working with large groups of young people.

Library Assistant, Kingston University, London — 2013-2014 | As well as those tasks necessary to ensure the smooth working of a university library, I dealt with a high number of students on a day-to-day basis, delivering quality support and services.

Social Media and Marketing Intern, Mudhut Records, Brighton — 2008 | At Mudhut I managed Twitter, Facebook and Myspace pages, and also the company website. I created Mail Merges and arranged and promoted festivals and concerts for artists working within a variety of genres by telephone and email.
