The Rusty Bicycle, Oxford January 2018 – September 2018 Assistant General Manager
A big portion of this position was relaying and implementing standards set by the company director. This was done primarily through firstly understanding the standards and then instilling them into my staff; by using different inventive methods (mentoring peers, leading by example and holding practical and theoretical training sessions for staff) we as a team were able to achieve this. The nature of my position was to be a senior point of management for the staff to engage with. I would often help with queries and problems, both professional and personal and built a good rapport with all my staff.
Varsity Club, Oxford February 2017 - January 2018 Bar Management
Being part of the management team in Oxfords most premier cocktail lounge gave me allot of opportunities to learn different methods of managing people. Such a venue demands high quality service from our employees which meant continuous training regimes to keep ahead of the curve.
Skillshare International, January 2012 - April 2012 International Teaching Volunteer
Based in a local primary school, I was responsible for delivering P.E lessons to classes of up to 50 primary school children at a time. I was able to design and implement my own coaching sessions, in which I would mainly teach football or athletics.
Another aspect of this role was to teach life skills within a classroom setting. This initially was very challenging and alien, but after adapting to the intense environment I felt I confidently delivered the lesson plan and was also able to engage with the pupils on a personal level.
Turl Street Kitchen, Oxford November 2015 – February 2017 Bar Supervisor
Due to being in my final year of University I was forced to take a less intense and more flexible roll in order to ensure academic success. However, this position gave me licence to implement and teach cocktail classes to both staff and customers.
The General Elliott, Oxford January 2015 – November 2015 Pub Management
Being part of the management team at this traditional country pub taught me new skills as well as honing skills I had acquired through coaching. Skills both specific to pub/bar management and to management in general i.e. event planning, staff training, reporting and collaborating with superiors the delegation of tasks, rota planning etc.
Hinksey Park Lionesses F.C, August 2015 – June 2016 Football Coach
Whilst in University I used my free time to help coach an under-15 Girls Football Team. I would implement my own coaching drills and assist in others. As a team of coaches and players we excelled in the league, finishing 3rd and I personally learnt allot during the year.
Upton Blues F.C, Chester September 2006 - June 2008 Football Coach
To help develop my coaching skills I took a role coaching my brothers under-11 Football Team. During these two seasons, my passion for coaching and mentoring young people grew exponentially.
