I graduated from Methodist College Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on January 2016 with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. My course allowed me to intern at 2 different schools. I taught in a private kindergarten for 3 months with the Montessori approach and an international school for another 3 months with the Reggio Emilia approach. Being able to communicate with other teachers during my internship showed me a bigger picture of the teaching career and more options on choosing the right course to further my studies. During my college days, I have volunteered teaching in multiple non-profit institutions and managed an event to help spread awareness on the topic of child abuse. After graduating, I have worked for a few schools with different curriculum and it has given me the opportunity to practice and improve my teaching skills. Throughout 5+ years of my teaching journey, I have worked with children from the age of 3 to 12 years old. I have also worked with children with special needs too and was able to help them to be more inclusive at school.
Currently, I am an assistant teacher across the year group of Year 5 serving for The International School @ ParkCity, Malaysia. This is my fifth year teaching and I am currently the lead teacher of several subjects, creating lesson plans according to the curriculum guidelines. I also teach and co-teach English, Mathematics and IPC across the year group. I also work with the learning support department on teaching children with dyslexia to help the achieve inclusion in class. My teachings are observed by peers and members of the leadership team to maintain professionalism.
