I have BSc (hons) in food and consumer management.
I completed 1 year graduate teacher training and gained qualified teacher status in 2004.
I have 10 GCSES, all grade A-C including Bs in English literature and language, and maths.
I completed 120 premier online TEFL in April 2019 with TEFL.org.uk. I also gained 20 hour Business English certificate, as this is an area I am interested in teaching.
I'm a very experienced teacher of cookery in high schools which I did for 14 years. I taught GCSEs in various food subjects such as Food Technology, Home Economics Food and Catering.
I worked for 7 years as a substitute teacher where I gained experience working in numerous schools including primary and high schools. I was able to quickly adapt to new situations and apply teaching skills when working with children of different ages.
My last teaching position was working with adult males in a local prison. I taught up to 12 learners full time, nutrition and health for 4-5 weeks. I had to quickly build rapour with the learners to ensure we had a productive learning environment. The vast majority of learners achieved level 2 nutrition and health.
I am currently volunteer teaching a group of ladies a programme called Talk English who have come to live in the UK recently and want to improve their English. We aim to teach them useful language for their life. The levels range from pre entry to level 1. We try to improve their speaking and listening but also try to incorporate some reading and writing. This can be challenging as we can have a wide variety of levels so I am working at how to get the ladies to work with new people.
