Academic Vice Principal Responsibilities:

  • Display leadership qualities, determination, confidence, and strong decision-making abilities.
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Act as mentors and counsellors to students and conduct parent interviews in addition to daily administrative tasks.
  • Conduct the overarching duty to assist with defining and enforcing policies and guidelines for students, staff, and faculty at the school.
  • Share responsibility for creating a safe school environment, including reviewing and evaluating adherence to school and building codes; planning emergency drills, evacuations, and lock-downs; and reviewing injury and incident reports.
  • Involve in conceptualizing the goals of the school and identify objectives for instruction and extracurricular programs.
  • Certify and hire teachers and staff
  • Maintain the school policies and the guidelines issued by the Vietnam MoET, Ministry of Education, The Western Australia School Curriculum, The International Baccalaureate, The Pennsylvania American School Curriculum, and Standard Authority. This includes assessment records, progress records, classroom planning records (such as a daily planner), curriculum planning, as designated, attendance information, curriculum scope, and sequence;
  • Assign teacher team to write, supervise and mark tests and exams as appropriate; produce weekly, end of term, yearly, transfer and other necessary reports
  • Review teachers progress weekly and, where appropriate, provide additional academic assistance.
  • Share responsibility for planning and coordinating professional development for school faculty and staff.
  • Assist with planning class schedules and approving supply orders submitted by school faculty and staff.
  • Commonly supervise support services for special needs students as well as special programs for students and the wider community.
  • Handle student attendance and discipline problems at the administrative level, from coordinating policies to supervising and directing student suspensions and expulsions.

Librarian responsibilities:

  • In charge of the instruction of students and daily operations of the library program at the school level.
  • Primarily responsible for the functions of the school library
  • Evaluation and selection; ordering and processing; utilization of media;
  • Formal and information instruction in library, media and technology information skills as well as assistance to students and staff in locating, evaluating and using library media materials and technologies.

Working Information:

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week (7:30 – 17:00) from Monday to Friday

Requirements:

  • (Lib) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with teaching certification
  • (VP) Obtain a master’s degree in education (M.Ed.) or higher, ordinarily in a speciality such as education administration or leadership. Graduate degrees in school administration also include Educational Specialist (EdS) degrees, Doctor of Education (EdD) degrees, and PhDs in Education.
  • Accumulating experience as a classroom teacher is strongly prefered as this experience provides a ground-level understanding of school operations.
  • Leadership and organizational skills are equally important to perform this job successfully.
