I have had much experience working in youth centers in England for troubled children and keeping them off the streets. To me I feel like this is another form of teaching as I had children looking up to my behavior, being their roll model taught them how to act in life and certain situations.
When I lived at home my mother would rent one of the spares rooms in the house to foreign students so I have interacted with people from all over the world most my life. I lived with French students, Spanish students, Italian students and Arabic students. I would always help them with their homework and in their free time we would always spend time together. Interacting and learning about people's different cultures fascinates me.
Whilst I was travelling in Asia I did cover lessons in Cambodia in a center and in a home, although I was only there 2 weeks I'm happy with the experience I gained from it. I taught different ages from 4-8 in the same class which was hard because of the different levels in their English but still maintained a fun atmosphere, keeping the children engaged.
I carried on travelling until I reached Hanoi where I worked for 2 months teaching kindergarten and grade 2, because TET was going on it was hard to find work but I still managed none the less. After TET everything picked up and I have taught all sorts of classes. I have had lessons with young adults, children that don't even know basic English and classes of 20-30 children. I feel I have gained enough experience to not only teach to a very capable standard however I am always looking for ways to expand my teaching to better levels.
Because of current circumstances I we be relocated to Ho Chi Minh, where I will be staying for the foreseeable future
