ISA Coaching 2013-2017:
ISA Coaching is a leading sports company based in the borough of Brent in the UK, working in primary schools providing breakfast, lunch time, after school and curriculum sports sessions. The company also provides private football sessions for participants aged between 4-13. All sports provided were in keeping with the UK National Curriculum. I started when I was eighteen working part time whilst studying at university.
For the first year I was only assisting, observing, and occasionally leading my own breakfast, lunch, or after school lessons. After the first year I began to coach more lessons, including a larger variety of sports sessions and started coaching lessons that were a part of the national curriculum.
After the second year, I was promoted to full time coach. This resulted in myself and three other coaches being responsible for coaching the majority of the sessions in the week and all of the curriculum lessons. We were also assigned to schools to be their ‘PE Teacher’, so we had more responsibility in the schools and focused more on the measured development of the students.
My final year with ISA I was again promoted to head coach, working underneath my boss. I was coaching the majority of the sessions within the week, including all private clubs and our main schools. I also had to help plan all sporting events, trips, and timetables with the schools, and manage the assistant coaches on a day to day basis.
Middlesex University Camp 2015-2017:
During the school holidays, I would work for my university's sports day camp. This was an interesting job for me as it involved a lot of responsibility and it was very important to safeguard the participants. The camp was available for children aged between 4-15, so my sessions would have to be very adaptable to meet all ages and characteristics, but also safe and fun. The sports carried out were the same as I had coached in primary school, but I also introduced new activities such as archery and arts and crafts. As it was a sports day camp, the general topic and theme would be around sports, however, it was mainly to keep the children entertained and safe throughout the day. It was a good experience for me to build a relationship with them in a different environment.
Chatteris Educational Foundation 2017-Present:
In August 2017, I left the UK and moved to Hong Kong to work for a charity called Chatteris Educational Foundation. The organisation is responsible for locating employees to primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools to work as English teacher / tutor. I was located to Youth College Kwai Fong.
My main roles and responsibilities include designing and teaching lessons related to English language, planning and running events on campus, coaching the sports students in a variety of sports, personal training with students in the gym, and guiding students on training programmes and nutritional information. I also coach the campus football team. There are many other jobs I do around campus, including private tutoring, administration, party planning, and running errands.
