Language Link’s Schools Link Public/Private Schools Program is looking for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who have a great team work mentality! As a Senior Teacher your mission is to empower the teachers in your region to consistently deliver effective lessons, and to improve the quality of the program!

Job Description

-   Teach own Primary/Secondary lessons (from 5 - 10 hours per week) and make these

available for other teachers to observe, as a basis for discussing teaching. Teaching

hours, including cover, can be up to 50 hours per calendar month;

-   Provide cover as necessary, including being on call (2nd round) up to two days a

week;

-   Assist teachers in their region to handle issues that arise, including difficulties with

teaching, TA/school relationships, facilities, resources, and life in Hanoi (in consultation

with AC or AM as necessary);

-   Liaise frequently with senior academic management team to communicate issues and

solve problems (check-ins with AC plus two face-to-face team meetings per month);

-   Organize twice-monthly meetings with fellow STs to establish a collaborative working

relationship, discuss issues and brainstorm;

-   Co-plan and deliver sharing sessions and workshops that help teachers develop

specific competencies to improve their teaching (approximately two per day during

induction week and approximately two per month during the school year);

-   Carry out observations, as required during the academic year and during each of the 2

observation cycles with written and verbal feedback;

-   Assist ACs and AM in identifying teachers who are underperforming, and in

consultation with ACs or AM support them through a Teaching Development Plan in

preparation for follow-up observations by AC or AM;

-   Communicate frequently with every teacher in own region, face to face or by phone

call; visit each school in their region at least once per term;

-   Participate in school outreach events (e.g., school assemblies, English competitions)

as and when required.

-   Complete development work projects as assigned by AM or AC.

 

Qualifications

 

Essential Criteria:

-CELTA, CertTesol or a similar TEFL certificate with assessed observations (essential) Online certifications not accepted.

- Minimum 2 years of in-classroom EFL related experience within a public school environment (essential)

- Extensive teaching experience with YL and/or Teens (essential)

- Bachelor’s degree in any subject, preferably in English/Education (essential)

- A clean home country Police Clearance Check (essential)

- Young learner extension certificate such at CELTYL, Trinity TYLEC or IH YL and Teens cert (desirable)

- Leadership and management experience (desirable)

- High professional standards - accountable, detail orientated, etc

- Good communicator

- Knowledgeable about teaching methodology and best practices

Line Manager

-   The Senior Teacher reports directly to their Schools Link Academic

Coordinator. All STs will receive support and training from AM and AC at the beginning

of the school year and throughout;

-   AC/AM will assess performance of ST based on outcomes outlined in this scorecard

once per term

Working Time

-       The Senior Teacher is contracted to work 40 hours per week from Monday

to Friday with occasional weekend work as necessary.Time off in lieu can be requested for weekend work.

The Senior Teacher is expected to work from 8am to 5pm (adjustable accordingly when the day involves teaching, e.g. ST teaches from 7am - 11am and then office hours until 4pm).

 

Salary and benefits

 

- Competitive salary offered is based on experience, qualifications, and location assigned. Monthly salaries can range around 50-53 Million VND.

- Performance related end-of-contract bonus: 21,000,000 VND/10 months

- Severance payment - ½ month per year

- Visa-Run flight reimbursement (for local hires) is up to 4,200,000 VND

- In-bound flight reimbursement (for overseas hires) is up to 10,500,000 VND
